So i thought it was time i made a build thread on the project im working on.

Old owners build thread (no pictures showing, Might need access to view)

Not so much a a set goal car, just something all round fun, cool and a little different.
Picked the X3 back in March 2014 from owner Sam

KcxCmqV.jpg
b3WpASp.jpg

First thing i did was bolt on chin spoiler and some flairs

ARLmQLu.jpg

I then removed them and got over the whole scene kid STANCED bolt on flare look.

During this time i started my project company Ciscokids (Cressida/X Chassis focused parts) bought a bunch of investment properties and shares and really gave up on car's.
so of course the car's came to a halt. So this bring me to to 2015 and as apart of Ciscokids i bring over Tezuka for QR matsuri and meeting the QLD Guy's and the scene there really
re-sparked my interest in car's again. So start sorting my Debt's and paying them off and then decided to propose to GF to find out this will put another year delay on me getting to play with car's

When i got home i went to restore the car to get it back on the road and this happened.

gunemar.jpg

It took a year and a half to find a new rear windscreen. the goal was to then have the car for the wedding but delays at the painter meant i did not get the car back for 7 month's All inside boot painted, door jam's and behind doors painted in Toyota Black 202 the rest will be painted once i have fitted everything and welded up holes

Fc2aMX3.jpg
GratEjA.jpg
eDnv7Hy.jpg

Changed my mind on the direction of the car and decided i wanted something presentable and something i would enjoy for the long haul do a bit of everything in. plus something the wife could drive.

so plan's changed to

2JZGE VVTI
Manual
IRS Swap
Remove Power Steering box

People that know a lot of my builds follow silly themes's so like my other car's this is going Black with Tan trim with a engine theme.
The JZX81 i have is the same Colour combo but with a HKS engine, having always wanted a Trust/Greddy engine i went that route.

So that is when this started

cSKBqJC.jpg
mYCPbAV.jpg
fj7D67v.jpg
6jXshxh.jpg
BJEi92n.jpg

the current parts list for this engine are below.

EFI Hardware Billet ITB Set
EFI Fuel rail
ATI Balancer
Leeson engineering Alternator swap kit
Leeson 2JZ Bolt kit
Tomei Procam's (256/262 combo i think)
Greddy Timing belt
Greddy Cam gear
Greddy Oil Cap
Greddy Pullykit
Greddy Oil filter relocation
Uniflow sock filters (yellow)

Still need to get a couple more item's more so service item's and a Custom equal length exhaust manifold made

Sold off my old Autronic SM4 and purchased a Emtron KV8
mR8PeER.jpg

Cross member swap.

Out with the old
fR6257K.jpg

I have modified a E7 Cross member to fit/work the reason i went this route was i already had AE86 coilovers in the car and wanted to keep the front end as simple as possible, with no power steering box i went with a FLO's quick rack
SAu7hVI.jpg

to get this to work i had to trim it and make it shorter as well as re align the holes tried to use as much of the stock items as i could to make it look like a genuine item
iTe7gpW.jpg
Z5OjvtA.jpg
fIsjvT3.jpg
nC1slp1.jpg
NY7UTug.jpg

LCA lines up dead centre as per the old one, i might need to add MX62 arms for added length but i will have to wait until i get my brakes before i put the front end back in to test/trail
Stranded internet chat, IRS is a bolt in swap no issues. Well as you can see A6/X7 IRS swap is about 660mm short each side

VIWX6HJ.jpg

Anyway fab work to get this fixed, i went with modding the sub frame vs the body to fit this and made a jig to suit. I want to try and use all the standard IRS points in the car Sub frame was put in place, bolted in flat then welded to the box steel so it would not move, then chopped i combined box steal inside the sub frame, and turned two sub frames into one by chopping one as a shell to cover the new box steal internals.
zZrNtVP.jpg
qa4fnWk.jpg
FqhIToD.jpg

I still need to move the trailing arm/IRS mount's back to the original position but awaiting camber adjustment mounts to be back in stock at raptor racing. had engineer go over it and he is happy to pass it.

Now this car was never built for go fast/drifting so that is why i went this IRS, trying to keep it semi stock looking/feeling.

Problems i have at the moment is handbrake cable mounting points are in the way of the cross member, so i need to move them to suit and work out what i will do in regards to cable's

Parts i still need to buy
RCA's 30mm ish
Big brake kit
Maybe swap bars
New bushes all round
some cool JDM wheels 14's maybe 13's rebarrled to 14's

items i have and yet to fit

TRD style drivers seat,
Alpine speakers (old school JDM things)
Old school Greddy gauges
JDM Gauge Cluster (might mod the digital part of this gauge to have elite gauge fitted internally instead of garages.

take off the oil cap, then shit into the valvetrain. if you are like most 7m owners, the semen content will act as a sealant and prevent your hg from blowing for the next 100 miles or so. repeat as necessary.

neat. following your progress, im about to make some moves on my own x3 garage queen/hornet nest repository.

if i lose my job, i may have a lot of parts for you depending on what interchanges from sedan to wagon

My friend that lives in US showed me CraigsList while we search for my Cressida. You find lots of odd things on that site. Lots of fat US girls looking for a free ride from black basketball type American man.

doesn't x6 stuff bolt right in?  i thought it did because the x3 had irs from the factory in japan.

how did the rear window break?  that's my biggest fear with my jzx81 being the in states.  it will be months/years + thousands to get a replacement here.

btw LOVE the itbs.

X6 in aust is solid axle, i have the diagrams in the Japanese manuals and nothing matched up spot on other then X4 but i gave up pretty easy since i had to strole threw every version to find the chassis diagrams and then to compare. i guess the positive is i doubt anyone else in aust will go to this length for a SHIT IRS setup lol.

As for the rear window it is rather funny, So the roof trim i removed from a X3 at the wreckers with a screw driver and nothing else even removed the backwindows without breaking them. went to put the trim in my car being careful as, plastic end of screw driver hit windscreen and it shattered. nothing bad, nothing powerful just seems right angle, right place with right force. fucken sucked.

you can get rear windows out of japan but yeah 700+ before shipping and you can only use DHL or TNT for postage. (same case for JZX81's) no replacements in aust

The ITB are a EFI Hardware kit, full billet manifold, a couple issues i have found with them like they are more suited to NON VVTI so a couple tab's in shit places. but nothing you will notice when in the car and also a easy fix to remove tab's but i CBF right now.

lloyd's car uses x6 rear suspension but needed mounting points welded in.

my x3 wagon had a complete x8 subframe under it for measurement purposes and it wasn't super far off. definitely issues with the stock wide-ass spring clearing the inner fender well and frame rail, but coils would fit with someplace to bolt tophats. not far off from what you'd want to do.

i dont see vvti filter on that list, or the coolant hoses to the oil cooler, or the o rings on the water pump tube (those bit me in the ass on my last build)

A lot of these things have been done already before engine came out, the VVTI is fine i'm only replacing due to braking the clip :(  but coolant hose needs to be customised due to location's of heater tap/core so not a off the shelf item.

Decided to purchase a couple more parts.

Naprec JZ baffled sump
Water coolant neck rotate
Oil Sensor level Delete

Will get pictures when they arrive. Assuming in the next two weeks i will have a lot of items arrive.

Now i just need to decided on what ignition coils to use, Need to fit under cover so that leaves, VR38, Audi R8, Yaris and stock non vvti JZ ones but will need CDI from what i understand to run JZ one's with emtron.

There is another option here in Australia that you can buy that is a little more hardcore and has windage tray and so on. For this little car i dont think it is needed and to be honest i dont think the naprec one is, i just have purchased something for every other part of the car, might as well get something for the sump :P

Still waiting on parts to arrive.

been cold as hell in Melbourne so not much work has taken place. did start bolting up the IRS to see where everything is going to sit, the spring location is a tad out of place, either going to move the spring mount on the arm across or run a rear coil over setup like the two links below. (fits X3 cressida, not sure if it will fit IRS but that is just a bolt hole)

the a6 shock mounting bolt is a tiny thing. m10? iirc it was a 12mm headed bolt i think.

when i did my rear coils on the a6, i made a whole new mounting point on the arm itself...but i also cut a big hole in the old tower to accept a new style...before stance came out with their system. that photo makes the lower pickup really big looking.  keep in mind the one direction sweep those a6 arms have, in terms of how this rear suspension attaches

Yeah, to be honest i dont have a real clue how i will do it and i dont think it is ever going to be the perfect scenario. in saying that i will not be taking short cut's but im not going to go in depth to get the geo 100% for grip racing.

here is one's suited to X7

https://technotoytun...-cressida-sedan

I guess the reason i was looking at AE86 ones was they will bolt in up top no issue's and as you said the bottom can be made to suit the other option is as you said the stance style separate strut to spring and i still might go this way. just then i will need to adjust the springmount to suit a bit better because as you can see it is off.

^^ Stance also has a full coilover rear option if you look at ma61.
https://stance-usa.c...ota-supra-ma60/

I use them on both of x7s I have.  One has reinforced lower and upper mounts, the other has nothing reinforced.  I think llyod also used similar on his x3 with x7 rear but shot a shock through the shock tower. So maybe reinforcing that is a decent idea.

If you are building for grip you probably should have never used the x7 subframe haha. Although maybe the toe and camber in on compression might help? haha
